How do I join RenovateHub as a contractor?
Create an account on RenovateHub and complete our contractor verification process. You'll need to submit your business license, proof of liability insurance, and WSIB coverage (where applicable). Once verified, you can start browsing and bidding on projects.
What does verification involve?
Our verification process checks your business license, liability insurance, WSIB coverage, and professional references. This helps build trust with homeowners and sets you apart from unverified competitors. Verification typically takes 1–3 business days.
Is there a fee to join?
Creating a contractor profile and getting verified is free. RenovateHub charges a platform fee only on completed transactions — meaning you only pay when you earn. There are no monthly subscriptions or listing fees.
How do I receive payments?
When a homeowner approves a completed milestone, the escrowed funds are released to your connected Stripe account. Funds typically arrive within 2–3 business days. You can track all your earnings and payouts in your contractor dashboard.
How does the escrow system protect me?
Escrow protects contractors by ensuring funds are secured before work begins on each milestone. When a homeowner funds a milestone, the money is locked in escrow — they can't withdraw it. Once you complete the work and the homeowner approves, payment is released to you.
What if a homeowner won't approve completed work?
If a homeowner doesn't approve your work within the agreed timeframe, or you believe the rejection is unfair, you can open a dispute through our platform. Our dispute resolution team will review the evidence from both sides and make a fair decision.
How do I get more project leads?
Complete your profile with a detailed description, portfolio photos, and specializations. Respond to project requests quickly, provide competitive and detailed quotes, and deliver quality work to build up positive reviews. Higher-rated contractors appear more prominently in search results.
Can I set my own prices?
Absolutely. You have full control over your pricing. When you submit a quote, you set the total price and can break it down by milestones, materials, and labour. Detailed, transparent quotes tend to win more projects.
What types of projects are available?
RenovateHub hosts a wide range of renovation projects — kitchens, bathrooms, basements, roofing, decks, painting, flooring, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and more. You can filter projects by type, location, and budget to find the right fit.
How are reviews handled?
After each project, the homeowner can leave a review rating your quality of work, communication, timeliness, and value. Reviews are verified to ensure they come from real completed projects. You can respond to reviews publicly.
