1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using RenovateHub ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform. RenovateHub reserves the right to modify these terms at any time, and your continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of any changes.
2. Description of Service
RenovateHub is a marketplace that connects homeowners with verified, licensed contractors for home renovation projects. The Platform facilitates project posting, quote comparison, contractor matching, secure escrow payments, and project management. RenovateHub is not a contractor and does not perform renovation work directly.
3. User Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- RenovateHub reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Homeowner Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and complete project descriptions.
- Respond to contractor quotes and messages in a timely manner.
- Fund escrow milestones as agreed upon with the contractor.
- Review and approve completed milestone work promptly.
- Leave honest and fair reviews after project completion.
5. Contractor Responsibilities
- Maintain valid licenses and insurance as required by your jurisdiction.
- Provide accurate quotes and realistic timelines.
- Complete work to the standards described in the project agreement.
- Communicate proactively with homeowners about project progress.
- Comply with all applicable laws, building codes, and regulations.
6. Escrow Payments
RenovateHub uses milestone-based escrow to protect both homeowners and contractors:
- Homeowners fund project milestones in advance.
- Funds are held securely by our payment processor (Stripe) until milestone work is approved.
- Contractors receive payment upon homeowner approval of completed milestones.
- Disputes are handled through our dispute resolution process.
- RenovateHub charges a platform fee on completed transactions.
7. Prohibited Conduct
- Misrepresenting your identity, qualifications, or licensing status.
- Posting false, misleading, or fraudulent project listings or quotes.
- Attempting to circumvent the escrow payment system.
- Harassing, threatening, or abusing other users.
- Using the Platform for any unlawful purpose.
- Manipulating reviews or ratings.
8. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute between a homeowner and contractor, RenovateHub provides a structured dispute resolution process. Both parties may submit evidence, and our team will review the case. Decisions made through this process are binding. For disputes that cannot be resolved through our platform, parties agree to binding arbitration in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario.
9. Limitation of Liability
RenovateHub acts as a marketplace and is not liable for the quality of work performed by contractors, the accuracy of project descriptions, or any damages arising from transactions between users. Our liability is limited to the fees collected by the Platform for the relevant transaction.
10. Intellectual Property
All content, trademarks, and intellectual property on the Platform are owned by RenovateHub Inc. Users retain ownership of content they upload but grant RenovateHub a non-exclusive license to use, display, and distribute such content in connection with the Platform's services.
11. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
